SixFiftyBee and the Eastlands

There is a new wheel size available on a lot of bikes in 2013 and it has caused quite the stir among bicycle enthusiasts. It’s between 29″ and 26″. It is 27.5″, but people are calling it 650B. (Note: Photos by Luc Wilson)

I was lucky enough to ride the 650B Norco Range for one week last fall. I can’t comment on its performance as far as technical climbs and descents, but I can tell you one thing. The Range and I have something in common. We both love buff single track. It is playful and fast.

Check out this video Shayne Saskoley filmed of me riding the new Range at Canada Olympic Park and the East Lands. Make sure to check out this land use survey the city of Calgary is conducting on the East Lands. It takes 2 min to fill out and could help keep some of the best inner city rides a reality for the foreseeable future.

Spring is right around the corner, and I hope this video gets everyone super stoked to get out and ride bikes in tee shirt weather again. As for wheels size, I’m sold on 650B, are you?
